If you go to Ontario, Logan's Candies has been there since 1933. Family run, and owned by the same family since the beginning, Logan's Candies is famous for their specialty. What's their specialty? Candy Canes! They make home made candy canes, and have been using the same recipe since from back in the thirties. Throughout the year, and especially during December, they make batch after batch of their own home made candy canes, sold right there in the shop.
As if yummy made right there in the store candy canes wasn't enough, they are home to the World's Largest Handmade Candy Cane. Measuring about six feet in length and weighing around thirty pounds, it hangs on the wall behind the counter. It was made sometime around the end of 1997.
If you're crazy about candy canes, every December they do live demonstrations of the candy cane making process. Running about 45 minutes, there are often three demos a day scheduled as you get closer to Christmas. You need to come early as they are extremely well attended, with space in front of the shop's window filling up almost thirty minutes before the demo.
All of the candy canes and all of the ribbon candy is made in store. A lot of the other sweets in the shop are also made right there in their kitchen.
